Yesterday, we offered a concise summary of Gucci Mane’s substantial arrest history: “battery, drug possession, aggravated assault and, infamously, murder”. It seems his rap sheet might be about to get even longer.
Atlanta police issued a warrant for the Brick Squad don last week after he allegedly clocked a fan with a champagne bottle. A second fan subsequently came forward to claim Gucci had punched him in the face after a show in Philadelphia; in the complainant’s words, “you just don’t go around hitting your fans”.
As Complex report, Gucci has now turned himself in to police. According to a tweet from a WSB-TV reporter, “police sources” have confirmed Gucci is now in custody and will be booked into Fulton County Jail. He faces charges of aggravated assault.
As so often happens with Gucci, the legal tribulations follow something of a creative purple patch: he’s released four mixtapes in 2013, and burst (well, sleepwalked) into the movie business with a role in Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers.
Update: Thanks to his legal history, Gucci was denied bond at his first court appearance. He did not enter a plea, and his next hearing will be on April 10. [via Reuters]
