‘Q.U.E.E.N.’ is the first single off Monáe’s forthcoming The Electric Lady, her first album since 2010’s The Archandroid. As her website proclaims, “Every album is a suite. Every song is an experience.” This experience is an electro-funk, female empowerment one. For the outro, Monáe raps over a string melody straight out of a Blaxploitation soundtrack.
