Four Tet and instrumental duo RocketNumberNine continue their productive relationship on a new remix.
Both parties joined forces back in February for the eight-minute ‘Roseland’ single. Produced by Floating Points, it was a twinkling jazz-funk number, and featured the sinewy ‘Metropolis’ on the flip. The 12″ prefaced the announcement of a new RocketNumberNine album, MeYouWeYou, featuring one-time Text single ‘Matthew And Toby’ and rollicking new track ‘Rotunda’.
The latter has now been remixed by Four Tet, who bolts the Page brothers’ freewheeling groove onto a robust 4×4 skeleton. The Antibalas-via-Konono No. 1 clatter is still at the forefront, but the remix adds both polish and muscle. Click below to stream and download.
Last week,Four Tet dropped an excellent collaborative effort with Neneh Cherry and The Jungle Brothers’ Afrika Baby Bam. Four Tet is also preparing to re-release 2003 landmark Rounds, bolstered by a second disc documenting a live show in Copenhagen.
MeYouWeYou is due on May 21 on Smalltown Supersound.
