Country singer George Jones has died, aged 81.

Nicknamed The Possum and most famous for his hit ‘He Stopped Loving Her Today’, Jones died today in Nashville after being hospitalised with fever and irregular blood pressure. The news was broken by his publicist Kirt Webster. Jones’ career lasted over half a century, and he had number one songs in five different decades (the 1950s through 1990s).
