Purple people helper?

In an unexpected snippet of news gleaned from US tabloid the New York Post (so make of this what you will), it is reported that Prince has apparently used the proceeds of a recent concert to fund a Portland, Oregon high school jazz band’s entry into the Essentially Ellington competition on the other side of the country. Essentially Ellington is a high school program dedicated to broadening the musical perspectives of young students and clearly nudging them into the jazz world at the same time and their competition is held each year at the end of the season and New York City’s Lincoln Center.

It’s an unusual and very low-key move for Prince, and while we re-iterate that you can take the information with a pinch of salt, it seems just weird enough to be true.
