Red Bull Music Academy‘s Culture Clash events have swiftly become some of music’s most talked about.
A modern twist on the traditional soundclash, the events have featured all sorts so far – Skream, Benga and Metalheadz taking trash talk to new levels, Boy Better Know stealing a win from right out of Major Lazer’s hands, and some serious special guests including Pusha T, Usher, Cypress Hill’s B-Real, Rita Ora and, er, footballer Emmanuel Frimpong. Last night Red Bull hosted their first ever New York Culture Clash, with Trouble and Bass, Just Blaze & Young Guru, Federation Sound and Que Bajo the four teams duking it out for supremacy.
Although, from the sounds of it, Just Blaze & Young Guru stole the show in terms of both guest appearances – 2 Chainz, Jadakiss, Styles P, Raekwon, Bun B, Pharoahe Monche, Freeway and Wale all appeared – and swagger – Just Blaze fired a cannon of money into the crowd, taking making it rain to whole new levels – Trouble and Bass were the overall winners, bringing out Nina Sky, Cam’ron, Dave Nada and, brilliantly, ultimate one hit wonder, Robin S, to perform ‘Show Me Love’.
You can watch Robin S perform ‘Show Me Love’ and 2 Chainz’ appearance below; expect more videos of the event to emerge as America wakes up today.
