Prior to Saturday, all we knew about Kanye’s forthcoming sixth LP existed in the form of whispers and rumours. Not so come Monday.

On the weekend, Rap-Up speculated that the new album will be called Yeezus. Kanye’s girlfriend Kim Kardashian subsequently shared an Instagram image with the hashtag #Yeezus. The post also featured a snap of a CD, ostensibly featuring the cover art for the album. The image also cropped up on a pre-order page at KanyeWest.com, although it has now been removed – scroll down to view the frowzy artwork.

There was plenty of musical Yeezy activity on the weekend, with the rapper making his much-trailed appearance on Saturday Night Live to debut new tracks ‘Black Skinhead’ and the Frank Ocean-featuring ‘New Slaves’. Strikingly, footage of the latter was also beamed onto buildings at 66 locations across the world. ‘Black Skinhead’ is a rabble-rousing glam/rap freakout, situated somewhere between Death Grips and T. Rex and carried by a sample of Marilyn Manson’s ‘The Beautiful People’ (lyrics here and here). ‘New Slaves’, meanwhile, is brittle and politically charged – videos of both are below.

Yeezus is expected on June 18. Rumoured contributors include Daft Punk, Skrillex, Hudson Mohawke, King L, Chief Keef and Young Chop. [via Pitchfork]
