The Russian punk collective is the focus of two new projects.
Line of Best Fit reports that Rough Trade will publish Let’s Start a Pussy Riot, “an exploration of the concept of Future Feminism, asking how we can move forward and unite different voices and generations to create an inspiring dialogue.” The book features contributions from Antony Hegarty, Kim Gordon, Lucky Dragons, Jeffrey Lewis, and others; it will be launched at Yoko Ono’s Meltdown Festival on June 14 and it follows last year’s Pussy Riot e-book.
In addition, Consequence of Sound points to the new trailer for Pussy Riot – A Punk Prayer. The documentary, co-directed by Mike Lerner and Maxim Pozdorovkin, made its world premiere at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and will air on HBO on June 10 at 9PM.
The film chronicles the arrest and trial Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alyokhina, and Yekaterina Samutsevich for their protest performance in a Russian church. Earlier this week, Alyokhina began a hunger strike in protest of the Russian court’s decision to prohibit her from attending her own parole hearing.
