The riot grrrl pioneer details her latest project.

Along with Kathleen Hanna, The Julie Ruin includes bassist Kathi Wilcox (of Bikini Kill), keyboardist Kenny Mellman (of Kiki and Herb), drummer Carmine Covelli, and guitarist Sara Landeau. Hanna first used the Julie Ruin moniker for a lo-fi solo record of the same name.

The band’s debut album, Run Fast, is due out on September 3 via the band’s TJR Records imprint and will be distributed by punk institution Dischord. Stream/download ‘Oh Come On’ below.

As previously reported, James Murphy collaborated on album track ‘Just My Kind’. “James came in and worked with him to put the icing on the cake,” said Hanna. “It was really exciting because we’ve known each other for over ten years but never worked together.” [via Pitchfork]
