The chief mobsters hook up again to pay tribute to the dancehall don’s swag.

A$AP Ferg, the rapper who looks most likely to be the next crew member to carve out his own solo path, is joined by de facto leader A$AP Rocky on ‘Shabba’, a menacing cut of hollowed-out trap crowned with the lines: “eight gold rings like I’m Shabba Ranks / four gold chains like I’m Shabba Ranks.” The beat is by Snugsworth from production duo Modern Outfit.

‘Shabba’ will appear on Ferg’s still-not-here-yet solo mixtape Trap Lord, which was announced back in January but is now set to arrive on 20 August.

Ferg and Rocky were last spotted together on the cloudy ‘Max Julien’, while Rocky also popped up on this year’s all-star remix of Ferg’s 2012 calling card ‘Work’. Ferg will join Hyperdub boss Kode9 and Stones Throw stalwart J.Rocc at Benji B’s Deviation night in London this Friday 5 July.
