Fire it up.

We already knew that Canadian indie collective The Arcade Fire were working on a new record, we even knew that they were recording with ex-LCD Soundsystem man James Murphy, and until today we wrongly assumed that the album was going to appear on September 9. The band have now confirmed the official release date via Twitter, in typically unceremonious fashion, stating that the as-yet-untitled album would be appearing on October 29.

They also attached a rather bizarre looking picture (which you can see below), which may or may not be a clue to the eventual artwork. Crazy kids. [via Pitchfork]
