LuckyMe announce debut EP from Brooklyn producer Obey City, Champagne Sounds

Presenting LuckyMe‘s latest acquistion: Obey City.

Co-founder of the Astro Nautico crew, the Brooklyn producer has previously turned his hand to frantic 2-step (‘LUV U’), svelte broken beat (‘Who Buggn’), and glossy bedroom jams (‘That Molly’). Aside from the occasional remix and compilation appearance, he’s dropped a download-only EP, My RVM, and lush beat music is very much his ambit – a dreamy corrective to TNGHT’s ignant brand of trap.

Glasgow crew LuckyMe will take Obey City under their wing for his first official release, the Champagne Sounds EP. A sample track is available below, and comes very much from the same spiritual place as releases from Jacques Greene and Cid Rim (in fact, what with those 80s drum tumbles, this could have been plucked straight off of Hudson Mohawke’s Butter).

Champagne Sounds is due on August 8 on digital and vinyl. A follow-up EP, Merlot Sounds, will arrive later in the year.
