Boogie Wonderland.
Veteran funk band Earth, Wind and Fire have a brand new album in the works, and while it’s their first in almost a decade, it doesn’t sound like they’ve lost any of their unshakable energy. Entitled Now, Then & Forever it is slated for release this September, and should see the band return to the white-hot funk that made them so crucial back in the 1970s. First single ‘My Promise’ appeared today, and comes accompanied by a set of typically kinetic rehearsal footage showing the band on sizzling form.
Band co-founder Verdine White described the song to Rolling Stone as “Straight down the middle, Earth, Wind and Fire. No question about it.”, and we can hardly dispute that claim. It’s feel-good funk music without any attempt to re-invent the wheel, and sometimes that’s all you need.
