For over a year now – the first commission was at the 2012 Brighton Festival – electronic veteran Scanner and the 45-piece Heritage Orchestra have been reinterpreting the work of Joy Division, live.
An audio-visual collaboration that also includes Matt Watkins, Adam Betts and John Calvert (not our John Calvert) Live_Transmission aims to take audiences on “a trip into a dismantled, electrified and orchestrated world inspired by the music of Ian Curtis.” This September and October, Live_Transmission will tour across the UK, including stop-offs at London’s Royal Festival Hall and Liverpool’s Philharmonic.
Scanner has uploaded a 10 minute edit of recordings from the Live_Transmission shows to Soundcloud, which should shed some light on what to expect from the live show. You can stream it below, and read more on Live_Transmission here.
Scanner recently took the Associate Artist’s seat at the Spitalfields Music Summer Festival, booking performances by the Haxan Cloak and more. More on that here.
