Sam ‘Floating Points‘ Shepherd is to drop a new 12″ single, ‘Wires’.
April witnessed the arrival of Eglo Records Vol. 1 – the first ever compilation released by Shepherd and Alexander Nut’s Eglo Recordings imprint. Scattered throughout the 23-track set were cuts from label regulars Funkineven, Fatima, Mizz Beats and GB. Arguably the biggest draw, however, was Floating Points’ album exclusive ‘Wires’ – a lush, heavily orchestrated 11-minute epic, boasting Hammond organ, some rolling percussion work and trilling woodwind.
As befits one of Shepherd’s most ambitious compositions to date, ‘Wires’ will now get a proper 12″ release. The unexpected vinyl pressing will arrive on a one-sided 12″, and also promises a fancy printed gold insert.
Eglo will release Wires on 12″ later this week. Eglo staple Funkineven recently announced a new EP for Julio Bashmore’s Broadwalk label. [via Juno Plus]
