So you think you’re a producer?

TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek has just posted a trove of stems from various tracks on his recently launched Federal Prism label to Soundcloud, and he wants us, the fans, to have a go at reworking them.

The Midas touch producer has so far uploaded the raw materials for songs by Kelis, CSS, Oh Land and Cerebral Ballzy, as well as stems for the brand new TV On The Radio single ‘Mercy’, and we can expect more material from tracks by Freddie Gibbs, Scarlett Johansson and others on the label in the near future.

Music industry veteran Jeff Bowers, co-owner of Federal Prism, explained that the project will allow people to get involved with music before they’ve even purchased it. “It’s not just about how people are listening to music, but how people are interacting with it,” he told FastCo. Launching the label last year, Sitek said: “Somewhere along the line music became ‘content’… It’s my full intention to bring it back to music again!”
