Long-serving post-rock heroes Explosions in the Sky have been snapped up yet again by director David Gordon Green (who directed their other recent OST exercise Prince Avalanche) to produce the music for his next film Manglehorn. Again made alongside Austin-based composer David Wingo, the band will spend the rest of the year producing music for the 2014 feature.

Manglehorn is set to star the legendary Al Pacino, who will take the title role of A.J. Manglehorn, a man who, according to the Movieweb synopsis is trying “to come to terms with a past crime that cost him the love of his life.” We get the feeling it should be typically emotional stuff then, and no doubt perfect fodder for Explosions to weave their haunting post-rock magic over.
