The OutKast eccentric reportedly told a TV executive that he would follow up his star role in a Jimi Hendrix biopic with a record next year.
BET exec Stephen Hill met André 3000 over the weekend and tweeted that the rapper had admitted that his solo album was coming “top of the year”:
Me: hey what’s up? You got the movie coming, right? Andre 3000: yeah…and I got a solo album coming top of the year. Me:*droptofloor*

André’s representatives took a non-committal stance on the matter, telling Billboard later that nothing was certain: “Regarding reports of a specific plan to release an album in early 2014 […] There is no official confirmation on that report.”
André revealed that he was working on a solo album in an interview with GQ earlier this year, saying: “For the last two years, I’ve been doing collaborations. I’ve just really been feeding off of that and this year I think I’m planning to do a solo project. I don’t know when it will come out, but hopefully it’ll come out this year.”
In the meantime André has been busy playing Jimi Hendrix in the forthcoming biopic All Is By My Side, which will have its premiere in September at the Toronto Film Festival, while he also teamed up with Beyoncé for an Amy Winehouse cover that appeared on the soundtrack to The Great Gatsby.
