Spoiler: it’s great.

It’s finally here, the much hyped studio collaboration between r&b sensation R. Kelly and French indie poppers Phoenix. The band have long had a soft spot for Kells, notoriously jamming his tracks before they perform, so the collaboration seems rather more apt than say, Chase & Status working with Chic’s Nile Rodgers.

Thankfully the track really works too, with Kells’ masterful croon adding a levity to the jaunty original and giving it a quality it was sorely missing – soul. It’s one of those rare occasions where the remix actually manages to punch higher than its predecessor and we’d call that a job well done. [via Pitchfork]
