A 20-year-old track is dusted off and brought back to life by the Berlin label.

Adam X’s Sonic Groove imprint has announced the reissue of an under-the-radar Detroit techno gem. ‘Scattered Thoughts’ was released in 1993 by Separate Minds, a duo comprising Lou Robinson of Underground Resistance affiliates Scan 7 plus Vernall Shelton, but it made little impact at the time, according to the label, who say they want to “breathe new life into this masterpiece of a song”.

A deeply atmospheric piece of Detroit techno with a tough electro bite, ‘Scattered Thoughts’ has been remastered and will come backed with a rare remix by Adam X’s Traversable Wormhole alias. The label notes that the mastering job was done by EBM and industrial pioneer Eric Van Wonterghem of Absolute Body Control, Klinik and Monolith.

Scattered Thoughts (20 Years Revisited) will arrive on vinyl on September 18, with a digital release three weeks later. [via RA]

Earlier this year Adam X released a second compilation of his music as Traversable Wormhole on Chris Liebing’s CLR imprint. For more Detroit techno gems, check out our essential guides to three of the scene’s key figures – Jeff Mills, Robert Hood and Drexciya.

Here’s a sadly incomplete version of ‘Scattered Thoughts’ as a taster:
