As if Gucci Mane‘s week hadn’t been weird enough, the Atlanta rap titan has been arrested for carrying a gun.
Earlier in the week, Gucci’s feud with former collaborators Waka Flocka Flame and Frenchie reached a climax when he basically lost his mind all over Twitter, making wild sexual claims about everybody from Nicki Minaj to XXL‘s Vanessa Satten.
He then claimed he was hacked (everyone’s pretty sure he wasn’t), dropped his new album, Diary of a Trap God for free and then deleted his Twitter. Gucci was then videoed having a confrontation with a stranger in an Atlanta mall – though from the video it looks like Gucci wasn’t that aggressor – and has now, according to TMZ, been arrested for gun possession.
According to TMZ‘s report, Gucci was taken into custody after “one of his friends complained to cops about his erratic behavior. The friend waved down police to help out … but when they approached Gucci he began cursing and threatening them. We’re told he was immediately taken into custody and police found a small amount of marijuana on the 33-year old rapper, as well as a handgun.” They then claim that Gucci was booked for carrying a concealed weapon, disorderly conduct and marijuana possession, and has been taken to hospital as a precaution.
In an interview earlier this year, Nicki Minaj – one of many artists that Gucci took aim at on Twitter this week – speculated that the rapper needed “an intervention”.
Musically, Gucci’s had one hell of a 2013, releasing eight mixtapes and two albums. That’s a lot of music, so FACT’s John Twells rounded up some of the great Gucci cuts from this year that you might have missed here.
