The Chicago beatmakers rework one of Chris Laufman’s noisy, sample-based pop songs.
Much of Chris “Wise Blood” Laufman’s work seems to have something nefarious lurking just below the surface, a fact that The-Drum have seemingly taken to heart. On their remix of ‘Alarm’, the prolific Chicago duo strip the song of its dusty samples and pop melody, contorting the vocal line over a shadowy slow-burner of a beat.
The original version of ‘Alarm’ appears on Id, which is out now via Dovecote. FACT interviewed Laufman earlier this year about the process behind the album, why he lives in Pittsburgh, and why he’d love to hear his songs in commercials.
