Darkstar take it back to the floor.

Darkstar’s second album, News From Nowhere, saw the trio moving away from their dubstep/post-dubstep beginnings and the ice-cold synth-pop they explored on debut North, instead inspired by the kaleidoscopic odd-pop of Animal Collective and Cocteau Twins. The results were mighty impressive, but for fans of ‘Aidy’s Girl is a Computer’ there was perhaps a disappointing lack of dancing tunes.

That problem will soon be remedied with the release of two EPs of remixes, with the first, called 01484, featuring remixes of album tracks ‘Young Hearts’ and ‘Armonica’, plus German producer Motor City Drum Ensemble’s remix of ‘A Day’s Pay for a Day’s Work’ on the flip side – hear that below. A second remix 12″, titled HD7, will be out later this year and is set to include a remix by Zomby.

Explaining the EP titles, the band said: “01484 and HD7 are the dial code and postal code of Huddersfield and its surrounding areas. We chose to use them on the 12″s as the remixes are an extension of the record News from Nowhere which was recorded in Slaithwaite West Yorkshire.”

01484 will be available digitally and on 12″ vinyl via Warp on October 15.
