You can always spot an M.I.A. album from a mile away, and the recently revealed artwork for Matangi seems to be continuing that rich tradition.
Featuring a brightly colored edit of M.I.A.’s face and fluorescent green text, there’s a sense that the reliably controversial singer wants to make sure the album stands out in the racks, and from the looks of it that’s going to be a given. The cover itself was shared (as is becoming the norm) via Instagram, but there were also two additional images on M.I.A.’s Tumblr site – exactly where they’ll end up we’re not sure, but it’s worth noting that they’re even more garish (if that’s even possible) than the front.
M.I.A.’s been in a spot of bother with the NFL recently. The sporting body is intent on suing her for giving the finger to a camera during the Superbowl and you can read more about the affair here. [via Pitchfork]
