Immerse yourself in The Field‘s most caliginous set to date.
Alex Willner’s loop-based project has sounded by turns ecstatic (2007’s From Here We Go Sublime), rootsy (2009’s Yesterday And Today) and worldly (2011’s genre-spanning Looping State Of Mind). Latest album Cupid’s Head, however, has the honour of being Willner’s “troubled” record – a thick, sometimes distressing set of churning house with a sinister streak. Kompakt have made the album – cobbled together entirely on analogue kit, incidentally – available to stream in full; click below to check it a week ahead of release.
With Cupid’s Head set to drop, FACT sat down with Willner earlier this month to talk about Steve Reich, burn-out and, naturally, risotto.
