T. Williams has become the latest to join BBC Radio 1’s In New DJs We Trust roster.
A former grime producer with Jon E Cash’s Black Ops collective, Williams established himself as one of London’s most promising house talents with a series of releases on Local Action, Enchufada and the his own short-lived Deep Teknologi label. His recent releases have come through PMR, home of Disclosure, Jessie Ware and more, and last year he was tapped for Rinse FM’s long-running mix CD series.
In New DJs We Trust is a rotating Radio 1 slot dedicated to – as you’d expect – up-and-coming DJs. T. Williams will be taking over from LuckyMe’s Eclair Fifi on Thursday October 31, 9pm-10pm. Other recent acts to host In New DJs We Trust residencies include Jackmaster, Mosca, Salva and Moxie.
“My first experience of Radio 1 was tuning into the legendary John Peel show”, says Williams. “His real broad range of influences and sounds really stuck with me through to today. I was lucky enough to have John Peel support my music on his radio show, and also to play at his memorial show at Maida Vale. So to come from that and now to be on Radio 1 as a DJ myself is a massive honour, if I can represent even 5% of the breadth of music John Peel did I’ll be very happy.”
