As part of this month’s forthcoming Amsterdam Dance Event, SONOS Studio is opening its doors for three days of talks, performances, and workshops.

Situated at Oude Looiestraat 40, Amsterdam, SONOS Studio is an acoustically designed space, created to showcase the company’s Sonos Wirless HiFi system. As per previous residencies at SXSW, the programme offers an array of free-to-access lectures, shows, exhibitions, listening parties and workshops.

Running from Wednesday October 16 to Friday October 18, the 2013 ADE programme has plenty of interesting bookings. Proceedings kick off on Wednesday, when the well-travelled Gregor Tresher will offer an account of his life and times. Dutch veteran Awanto3, meanwhile, will showcase his forthcoming debut album – 20 years in the making, no less – for Rush Hour. Diplo and Steve McCauley‘s interactive photo documentary-installation Blow Your Head will also be available to view from today onwards, offering a striking visual account [see above] of disparate music scenes from Jamaica to South Africa.

Thursday October 17 will welcome UK dance institution Dave Clarke, who will be talking the crowd through his 25-odd years of music making and, more recently, his stewardship of the fêted White Noise radio show. Chicago Jack titans Tyree Cooper and Bobby Starr, collectively known as Jack The Box, will talk about Chicago House’s ever-expanding influence on a new generation of dance producers. To round off the day’s events, composer and Kompakt affiliate Gregor Schwellenbach will be performing his orchestrated reinterpretations of the label’s key releases.

Friday October 18 is our favourite day of the bunch, kicking off with a jazz-focused lecture from the ever-eclectic Henrik Schwarz. 3024 boss Martyn will present a specially compiled playlist of the music he describes as the “soundtrack to his life” – expect d’n’b, dubstep, and the weirder strands of UK house to feature. Finally, Âme member and Innervisions regular Frank Wiedemann will take a break from the usual marathon DJ sets to talk the crowd through his favourite producers and DJs.
