Pro Era leader Joey Bada$$ and TDE regular Ab-Soul were both been arrested – and subsequently released – in Missouri last night.
The pair were arrested yesterday evening in St. Louis, where they’re scheduled to perform tonight as part of their ongoing The Smoker’s Club Tour. According to HotNewHipHop, the pair were both taken into custody alongside a number of Bada$$’ other Pro Era confreres. News has yet to arrive as to why the arrests were carried out, although Complex suggest the group were brought in on marijuana charges.
Video of the arrest is available to watch below, which shows Bada$$ laughing in outrage as he’s restrained a police car. As he’s held in handcuffs, Bada$$ can be heard saying: “Have you figured out why I’m in these handcuffs? Have you figured it out? Yo, they don’t know why I’m in these handcuffs.”
No comment has arrived from either Joey or Ab-Soul, but Joey’s tour DJ Statik Selectah has confirmed on Twitter that all the arrested parties have now been released:
St. Louis For the record no one is in jail right now and the show goes on tonight. Typical police racism tho
For now, it appears tonight’s gig will proceed as scheduled. Joey will release the Summer Knights EP later this month.
