Red Bull Music Academy have released a new book, For The Record, which centres around “15 conversations with people who have shaped the way we listen to music.”
It’s an impressive list of participants, as you’d expect: Buraka Som Sistema’s Joao Barbosa and Kalaf Angelo speak to Ethio-jazz founder Mulatu Astake, Can’s Jaki Liebezeit sits down with Bernard Purdie, and Heaven 17’s Martyn Ware compares notes with Chic’s Nile Rodgers. Elsewhere there are chats between Kerri Chandler and Patrick Adams, Metro Area and Gareth Jones, Uwe Schmidt with Olaf Bender and Carsten Nicolai, Benny Ill and Moritz Von Oswald, Adrian Sherwood and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Matias Aguayo and Sly & Robbie, DJ Harvey and Ben UFO, Nik Void and Cosey Fanni Tutti, Modeselektor and Mykki Blanco, The Underachievers and Erykah Badu, Just Blaze and Paul Riser, and Robert Henke and Tom Oberheim. In short, no matter what your musical taste, there’s something to geek out about inside.
