The Atlanta rap vet is the latest artist to take his label issues public.
Young Jeezy announced a follow-up to 2011′s TM:103 Hustlerz Ambition earlier this year, but the oddly-titled The Statue of Limitations is Over With did not come with a release date. Now, the rapper has taken to Twitter to call out Def Jam, the label that distributes his CTE World imprint, to give it one:
I been perfecting this album 2 years for #myfans
Niggas @ @DefJamRecords keep playing games if you want!
If Def Jam don’t get this right y’all got an early xmas gift #myfans
This about that fans! That’s all!
Lucian and Barry boss up
or my fans gonna get an early xmas gift beeleedat #SNOWMAN
The two men called out specifically are probably Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge and Island Def Jam CEO Barry Weiss; apparently the Corporate Thug is going all the way to the top. Let’s see if it has the same effect as MIA’s threats — Interscope answered by giving Matangi a release date.
Stream the Drumma Boy-produced ‘Foul Play’ below; the track is set to appear on #ItsThaWorld Vol. 2, due out November 27. Last month, Drumma Boy spoke with FACT about working with Jeezy (and others).
