The Ohio duo unveil clip for their new EP’s title track.
Teengirl Fantasy return this month with a follow-up to last year’s Tracer LP, and they’ve revealed an ace hi-fi-versus-lo-fi video for lead track ‘Nun’. Directed by Hans Lo, the clip pieces together footage from cities, mountains, oceans and space voyages and combines glossy, high-definition elements with trashy, pixellated chunks.
“In the track we used lower bit drum sounds on top of higher quality digital bells and synths,” band member Logan Takahashi exlained to Dazed Digital. “Likewise the video overlays degraded ‘trashier’ low bit forms on top of more detailed footage of natural phenomena. Both present an overflow of information while simultaneously focusing in on magnified chunks as if to reveal that everything we’re seeing/hearing is made up of these crunchier little bits of 1s and 0s.”
Watch the video above. ‘Nun’ will appear on Teengirl Fantasy’s forthcoming EP of the same name, out November 25 on This Is Music. Tonight the duo play Corsica Studios in London alongside James Ferraro and Gardland.
FACT caught up with the pair last month to find out about the Nun EP and their plans for a third album, while earlier this year they marked the passing of former collaborator Romanthony with a new remix of Tracer track ‘Do It’.
