Another So So Def-via-Chicago jam from the vocalist/producer.
James “The GTW” King first caught our ear with his “diaspora pop” remix of Tink’s ‘When I’m Lit’. The producer has brought the same 90s booty bass vibes to ‘Neymar Night’, a collaboration with Chicago-based vocalist Dre Green.
The song’s title is a reference to footballer Neymar, and King says it’s a term for a “kick it” night between a couple. “The track is almost a lullaby, like with nature sounds and silky chops of P. Rico’s ‘Hang With Me’ on the chorus,” King writes via email. “The production I did on this was old school 90’s ATL Bass inspired with tribal drums fluttering over the breakdown; both styles have been my obsession in past releases.”
