Lars Ulrich, Brian Eno, Mick Jones and Paul Simonon also feature on the station’s festive schedule.
That runaway son of the nuclear A-bomb, Mr Iggy Pop, will host two programmes on BBC 6Music this Christmas, including a special lunchtime slot on Christmas Day itself. The first show is themed around ‘rockin’ rebels’ while a second show on New Year’s Day will be about ‘heartbreak and heartache’.
“I was a little worried that the listening might feel ragged for the kind of people who can’t embrace Duane Eddy and, say, the Last Poets in the same hour with Doc Watson. Well, that’s too damn bad,” said The Stooges icon. “I’ve listened to all this music for the shows and it all flows for me. I hope to reach out and touch you.”
Iggy’s Christmas Day programme will be followed by an interview with Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich and, on Boxing Day, a two-hour special This Is Radio Clash, presented by Mick Jones and Paul Simonon. Additionally, Brian Eno will join Jarvis Cocker on his regular 6Music programme to dish out some “essential a cappella tracks”.
