Leeds club The Garage to close immediately

DJ Mag’s Best Small Club in 2012 loses its lease.

First opened in March 2012, The Garage quickly established itself as a premiere Leeds club, as well as the only dedicated electronic music record store in the city. However, The Garage’s run will be a short-but-sweet one, with the club set to close immediately.

“No one is strictly to blame,” says a statement. “Rather the current landlord has decided he doesn’t want to extend to the tenancy.” However, the club’s founders are looking for a new venue (and possibly already have one), with plans to open elsewhere by Christmas.

The Garage hosted club nights Back To Basics, Beatstreet, Bigger Than Barry, SetOneTwenty and Nest, all of which have said they will remain with the club in its next incarnation. For further updates, stay tuned to The Garage’s Facebook page.
