Dazed Vision and All Saints Studios have partnered for a new project, New Music Cities.
Billed as “a unique blend of performance and music”, New Music Cities aims to create cinematic portraits of musical cities across the globe, including New York, Gothenburg and Tokyo. Each instalment will star a musical figure in the city they call home, launching with punk innovator Richard Hell.
“You can come to New York to be offensive or to be defiant,” Hell says in the film. “The Velvet Underground drove people out of their concerts. They never had a hit record. The value was making interesting art and not becoming popular.”
The New York episode will also feature appearances from Widowspeak, Unlocking the Truth and Starred, while future episodes promise appearances from Katy B, Micachu, Mount Kimbie and more. For more on New Music Cities, head here.
