The Slayer frontman reveals a softer side.

The YouTube series Kids Interview Bands is exactly what it says on the tin: middle schoolers Olivia and Connie head backstage to quiz bands, including the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Sleigh Bells, and Franz Ferdinand.

Up next for the pre-teen pair: Slayer vocalist/bassist Tom Araya, who awkwardly but sweetly chats with the girls about his family holiday traditions, singing to Beatles songs, and a bit about movies and TV.

Watch it below — it’s pretty cute. It’s certainly a lighter bit of Slayer news, at least: earlier this year, guitarist Jeff Hanneman passed away due to liver failure, and the band has had its share of internal dissension.
