While the name might not be instantly familiar, DJ Smoove was a familiar fixture on the international rap circuit.

Born Deon Fulton Ruwizhi and brought up in Europe, Smoove started DJing in 2014 and quickly ascended through the ranks, performing all across Europe and the USA, and sharing a stage with Jay Z, Neptunes, Erykah Badu, Destiny’s Child and many more high profile acts.

The DJ had recently returned to Zimbabwe and died while driving home, alone, from performing at Club Envy in Borrowdale when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a wall.

Fulton had recently transitioned into music production, releasing his first single and completing full-length DJ Chronicles Vol.1, which was recorded on tour in 2010. The DJ was widely respected throughout the international scene, and it’s hardly surprising that Tim Westwood was seen giving his condolences via Twitter this morning.
