After yesterday’s news that Beyoncé‘s self-titled fifth solo album has smashed through iTunes records in its first few days of release, the pop diva has finally hit a snag.

Towering U.S. retail giant Target have refused to put the album on sale in their network of stores, suggesting that they’re angry that they couldn’t have snagged a percentage of the (massive) sales. Target spokesperson Erica Julkowski explained to Billboard:

“While there are many aspects that contribute to our approach and we have appreciated partnering with Beyoncé in the past, we are primarily focused on offering CDs that will be available in a physical format at the same time as all other formats. At this time, Target will not be carrying Beyoncé’s new self-titled album Beyoncé.”

Target obviously feel slighted by her move to launch the album via iTunes, but when she handed the retailer an exclusive deal for her previous album 4, it didn’t exactly result in explosive sales. We think Beyoncé’s doing just fine on her own, and if suburban shoppers need a brick-and-mortar superstore to purchase their CD copy, it seems Walmart don’t have any problems with selling the album.

FACT’s Chris Kelly took a closer look at Beyoncé in his in-depth review, you can read the whole thing here.
