This week the BBC announces its annual list of ones-to-watch, taken from the longlist published in December.
Coming fifth in the BBC Sound of 2014 list is 20-year-old bluesy singer-songwriter George Ezra, who’s been described as “a young man with the voice of a 50-year-old”.
The rest of the names will be announced throughout the week, with the final winner revealed on Friday.
The BBC compiles the list each year by canvassing 170 music writers, radio presenters, industry bigwigs and assorted interested parties. Last year their crystal ball-gazing efforts were spot on, with winners Haim going on to score a number one album with their acclaimed debut Days Are Gone. Previous winners also include Adele, Jessie J, Michael Kiwanuka and Ellie Goulding.
