London’s Sampha has finished fourth in the BBC’s Sound of 2013 poll.
The singer, songwriter and producer made his name with his collaborations with the likes of Jessie Ware and SBTRKT, most recently appearing on Drake’s album Nothing Was The Same. Last year he released a solo six-track EP, Dual, on Young Turks.
The final three names will be announced over the rest of the week, with the final winner revealed on Friday.
The BBC compiles the list each year by canvassing 170 music writers, radio presenters, industry bigwigs and assorted interested parties. Last year their crystal ball-gazing efforts were spot on, with winners Haim going on to score a number one album with their acclaimed debut Days Are Gone. Previous winners also include Adele, Jessie J, Michael Kiwanuka and Ellie Goulding.
The full longlist includes FACT favourites Kelela, FKA twigs and Chance The Rapper.
