Brush up your outboard effects game.
Exciting news for budding producers in New York City – rapper and producer El-P is hosting a music production workshop this weekend for high school and college students.
The session, which the Run The Jewels star will run alongside Nick Hook of Cubic Zirconia and Drop The Lime, will focus on how to use outboard effects.
It’s all part of Converse’s CONS Project for high school and college students, which started in Brooklyn in December with a ‘How To Remix’ session led by Ryan Hemsworth and a ‘How To Produce Beats’ session led by Chuck Strangers. Other workshops focused on fashion and film.
El-P’s workshop takes place on January 12 from 11am to 7pm at Converse Rubber Tracks in Williamsburg, with lunch and all creative tools provided.
Head to the CONS Project website to sign up – you have to be a US resident aged 16 and over, and attendees will be selected at random.
Just to prove how good he is at this game, watch El-P make a beat from some random records he chose while blindfolded.
