Detroit DJ Delano Smith will release his second album, Twilight, on Berlin label Sushitech next month.
Born in Chicago but raised in Motor City, Smith began his DJ career in the late ’70s and was a formative influence on Detroit’s emerging dance music scene throughout the ’80s, often playing alongside house legend Ken Collier. After a fallow period in the ’90s, he launched Mixmode Recordings in 2003 to put out a string of his own singles and EPs before releasing his debut album, An Odyssey, on Sushitech in 2012.
Since then he’s been remixed by fellow Detroit DJs Carl Craig and Mike Huckaby and last year debuted his Ableton-assisted live show.
Twilight will be available on vinyl only, with 11 new tracks across 3×12″ records housed in a gatefold sleeve designed by Sushitech designer Kerry Roper. [via RA]
