Black Acre veteran Loops Haunt is set to return to the label this year with his eagerly awaited debut album Exits.
The Scottish producer has been fairly quiet recently – his last release was 2012’s wiry, percussive EP Zenith – and all becomes clear with the announcement of Exits. Due for release on April 7 via Black Acre, we can hear a taster with ‘Howl’ (which you can hear below), and it doesn’t really sound anything like you might expect.
Sporting a glam-cum-schaffle beat and a haunted playground melody ‘Howl’ it takes a tumble into cartoon playfulness somewhere down the line, and ends up sounding a little like a nightmarish version of the Roobarb & Custard theme tune, or Battles after a night at Alton Towers. It’s very odd indeed, and we can’t wait to hear what Exits has in store for us.
