Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Lego!

Next month will see the release of The Lego Movie, an animated tribute to the wee yellow folk, boasting the vocal talents of Jonah Hill, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Will Ferrell and others. As Exclaim report, the score for the LP is being handled by former Devo lynchpin Mark Mothersbaugh.

Mothersbaugh has a long and august history of scoring work – his previous works include a stash of Wes Anderson films (including Rushmore and The Royal Tenembaums), plus the likes of Last Vegas, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street. Alongside a cache of original Mothersbaugh compositions, the score will also feature a collaboration between Tegan and Sara and The Lonely Island, blessed with the rather staid title ‘Everything is AWESOME!!!’.

2013 saw the band reissue their well-regarded Hardcore collections, which compile their early 1974-77 demo work. Alan Myers, who drummed on the band’s iconic 1978-80 run of LPs, passed away last year.

WaterTower Music will release the OST on February 11. A trailer for the flick is below.
