Detroit dynamo MGUN makes it a hat-trick of Don’t Be Afraid releases.
Manuel Gonzalez is nominally a techno artist, but he’s actually a much more eclectic beast, putting out grab-bag EPs that tilt from ambient to head-nod to choppy good-time house. He’s amassed quite a discography in the last 18 months, dropping releases on Kyle Hall’s Wild Oats imprint, The Trilogy Tapes and promising young imprint Berceuse Heroique.
His main affiliation, however, has been with Semtek’s Don’t Be Afraid label, who have put out both his The Upstairs Apt and If You’re Reading This EPs. That relationship will continue with Resin, a new six-track EP for the London imprint.
The EP, which will arrive in early March, contains a familiar hodge-podge of sounds: muggy arpeggiators on ‘Assumptions’; clipped boogie house palette on ‘Funkshun’; and some very battered equipment on ‘Flutter’.
Resin is due on March 3; artwork and tracklisting are below.
