Behold – a young and sweaty Ricardo Villalobos accompanying a DJ set with his frantic conga playing, filmed way back in 1993 when the minimal techno godhead was about 23 years old.

The footage was shot at a party in Großzimmern and screened on the German TV show Activ8.

The Chilean DJ learned to play percussion, including conga, as a young child after moving with his family to Germany. Most recently he teamed up with Max Loderbauer for a groove-led remix of Neneh Cherry’s recent single ‘Everything’. [via RA]
