This year FACT made the pilgrimage to SXSW in Austin, Texas, and the three-man team of John Twells, Chris Kelly and Bryan McKay spent 72 hours chasing artists, frantically editing video footage and painfully attempting to squeeze their way into shows that reached capacity within 10 minutes of opening.

One of the festival’s highlights was the bumper Rap Gods showcase from Southern Hospitality, which featured appearances from Baton Rouge’s Kevin Gates, ratchet reps Problem, Iamsu! and Sage The Gemini, Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul (who interrupted his set to question John about the sexual preferences of English females), Houston’s BeatKing and plenty more.

Bryan McKay caught some of the best bits of the showcase on camera, and has compiled them into a short taster of what most of us missed – our money’s on Gates’ heart-wrenching set, performed only days after his release from jail.
