Hip-hop media mogul and reality TV star Benzino was shot and wounded while attending a family funeral in Massachusetts on Saturday.

His nephew, Gai Scott, was arrested and charged in connection with the shooting.

Police said the incident took place on a highway south of Boston just before noon, when Scott pulled alongside Benzino’s car and fired several shots. His arraignment is set for today (March 31).

According to his own magazine Hip-Hop Weekly, Benzino – whose real name is Raymond Scott – was shot in the arm and his back grazed by a bullet. The publication also reported that the funeral was for his own mother.

Before founding Hip-Hop Weekly in 2006, Benzino was a co-owner of another hip-hop magazine, The Source. More recently he’s found wider fame as a cast member on the reality TV show Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, which heads into its third season in May.
