The first lady of Eglo Records brings in the big guns for her first album.
Soul singer Fatima will release her debut album Yellow Memories this May featuring production from a cracking line-up of like-minded musicians including her label boss Floating Points, Detroit’s Theo Parrish and Stones Throw’s Oh No, plus Scoop DeVille, Computer Jay and Knxwledge.
The album follows the Swedish-Senegalese vocalist’s recent double A-side, the Flako-produced pairing of ‘Family’ and ‘La Neta’. According to the label, we can expect “a modern take on classic soul and RnB” with a dash of “melancholic introspection and vibrant, candy-coated melody”.
Fatima will also be heading back to the UK and Europe from her current residence in New York for a bunch of live gigs accompanied by the Eglo Live Band, kicking off at Manchester’s Antwerp Mansion on May 3, while the album launch party will take place at London’s Jazz Cafe on May 6.
Yellow Memories is out on CD, vinyl and digital on May 12. See the tracklist below.
