DJ David Morales has shared a letter from Barack and Michelle Obama to the friends and family of Frankie Knuckles.
Considered the godfather of house music, Knuckles died earlier this month. Morales, whose Def Mix agency represented Knuckles, posted a scan of the Obamas’ letter on his Facebook page [below]. Barack served in Chicago, Knuckles’ hometown, for many years, and has met the DJ before [see above].
Def Mix are also planning a line of Frankie Knuckles t-shirts, with the profits going to charity.
Last week, veteran DJ Carl Cox recorded a tribute mix to Knuckles – stream that here.
